Wandsworth has beaten the Government’s target of vaccinating everyone in the ‘Priority 1-4 group’ including all staff and residents in care homes, all over 70’s and all health workers with more jabs being shot into arms across the borough every day.
Despite finishing ahead of the Government’s target, we have not stopped, and have been busy with vaccinating the next priority groups which include the over 65s and clinically extremely vulnerable from all age groups.
How is Wandsworth Council supporting the vaccination rollout?
We’re working hand in hand with the NHS encouraging everyone to take the vaccine when offered and providing information to residents so they can make an informed choice whether to take the vaccine.
Also, we are working with community and faith leaders to fight false vaccine myths and answer questions people have about the vaccine.
At the same time, our local GP surgeries are making home visits to people who are not able to come into be vaccinated and we are working to identify and link up homeless individuals with mobile vaccination units, ensuring no one misses out on the opportunity to have the vaccine.
How can I get vaccinated?
You will be offered your vaccine either by your GP surgery or via post/text message from the NHS. But you can also use the NHS online booking site or dial 119 to book in.
In Wandsworth we currently have 2 hospital hubs, 7 GP hubs and 1 community pharmacy site with plans to deliver more vaccination sites, including 2 mass vaccination hubs enabling us to ramp up the speed of the vaccination rollout locally.
We are doing everything we can to support the fast and safe rollout of the vaccine in Wandsworth.
