Local Conservatives have committed to the regeneration of the Alton Estate despite blocking by Labour.
Labour tried to block the regeneration last Thursday where they voted against the local Conservatives commitment to regenerate the Estate.
They did this in spite of the fact that regenerating the estate could bring:
- An additional 844 homes.
- New community facilities (including a new library, community hall, youth facilities, play facilities and a nursery and children’s centre).
- Over £100M worth of investment to the local area.
Commenting, Deputy Leader of Wandsworth Council Cllr Kim Caddy said:
“I’m delighted that the committee voted to confirm our ongoing commitment to the regeneration of the Alton Estate.”
“But so disappointed that Labour voted against and tried to block the regeneration.”
“Labour should come together with us in the interests of residents to deliver badly needed homes and regeneration for the Estate.”
Local Conservatives have a plan to improve opportunities in the borough through ambitious growth and regeneration.
While all Labour seems to offer is block, bicker and blunder – denying tenants desperately needed homes.
Alton Estate residents deserve better than Labour Councillors blocking regeneration to improve the local area.
