Nabi Toktas
Nabi runs a family owned local cafe on Tooting Bec Road and has lived in the area all of his life. His parents moved to Wandsworth when they first came to the UK from Turkey.
His faith has influenced him to be heavily involved in volunteering both locally and in Africa. For many years, Nabi has been volunteering with local community groups in Tooting Bec and Balham. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA).
Nabi is passionate about the environment. He volunteers with the Friends of Tooting Common to make sure our parks and green spaces are clean for everyone to enjoy. Through his cafe, Nabi is also an active part of the local business network in Tooting Bec and Balham.
Nabi wants local residents to have opportunities and choice, whilst receiving high quality services. He wants to use his business, voluntary and local experience to be the best possible representative for South Balham – one that the local area deserves.
Thomas Mytton
Tom moved to Wandsworth eight years ago to embark on a career in governance, helping public and private sector organisations to be more effectively run, more transparent and more accountable with public funds. He is a small business owner and local volunteer.
Tom was appointed as a Trustee of the Wandsworth Care Alliance, which delivers community projects and partnerships and promotes the views of local patients in the borough. Tom has also been a member of the Tooting Commons Management Advisory Committee (TCMAC) for almost two years, ensuring that our green open spaces are protected – whether that’s working with the council to improve the Commons or as a regular member of the Friends of Tooting Common litter picking team.
He worked with Wandsworth Council to secure almost £3m investment in both the Tooting Bec Lido and Tooting Bec Athletics Track, campaigned for more bicycle hangars in South Balham, and pushed for better public consultation and engagement on local transport infrastructure.
