The next exciting development on London’s south bank is getting under way following a ground-breaking ceremony for Nine Elms Square.
Cllr Govindia joins ground-breaking ceremony at Nine Elms Square
Just off Nine Elms Lane near Vauxhall, the project will be delivered in stages with a mixed-use development including homes, a medical centre, retail and commercial premises and a 55-storey tower.
The first two phases will include an initial tranche of 94 affordable homes which will be available through shared ownership, with a total of 600 affordable homes built across the whole development.
The development will also include a key section of the new Nine Elms park, which will run the length of Nine Elms from Vauxhall to Chelsea Bridge forming a continuous ribbon of open space as a green walking route for thousands of residents and visitors.
Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: "It is exciting to see yet another piece of the Nine Elms jigsaw fall into place.
"This world-class development in the heart of Nine Elms shows that not only is London open for business, but Wandsworth is already successfully welcoming global business and looking ahead to an international future.
"This is part of a development which will deliver 3,000 new homes as well as over 200 jobs and apprenticeships for local people as the site is transformed."
