The prestigious Green Flag Award has been awarded to the park from leading environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The Green Flag Award scheme rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the UK.
Last year Keep Britain Tidy described Battersea Park as “the jewel in the crown of London’s parks” and said “no other park in the capital offers so much to see, do and enjoy.”
The award comes in the wake of a massive £840,000 investment programme to the park which has included: a new children’s playground, new landscaping, the refurbishment of the Victorian seating shelters, and the transformation of a disused area called The Promontory into a beautiful area for residents to walk and take in views of the Thames.
“Battersea Park is one of the capital’s most popular and well used parks and I am very proud it has won the Green Flag Award yet again,” said cabinet member for community services and open spaces, Cllr Steffi Sutters. “From the beautifully maintained gardens to the numerous attractions including the boating lake, sports courts and the peace pagoda – there is so much to do here and it’s no wonder people come back time and time again to enjoy something new.”
One thing to do is Foodstock LDN which takes place in the park from Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29. Thousands of foodies are expected to attend the event which features a mouth-watering array of street food, famers’ markets and craft beer with various forms of entertainment taking place over the weekend. The park is home to public art including Barbara Hepworth's 'Single Form' and a new commission by Nicolas Deshayes which can be seen in the pleasure gardens until Aug 19
