Meet the Nine Elms Action Team
The Nine Elms Conservative action team are here to help. Like you, we live locally, and we want to make Nine Elms the best it can be. From delivering Europe’s largest regeneration while charging the lowest Council Tax in Britain, to dealing with the essential basics like littering and potholes.
Our priorities
- Cost of living: rising service charges and the London Mayor’s council tax rises mean Wandsworth’s low council tax is especially important.
- Housing: completing the building work and developments to help people onto the property ladder and reduce building disruption. We also need to ensure developers contribute to our thriving community.
- Best place to live, work and play: driving social mobility, supporting independent businesses, creating jobs and apprenticeships, campaigning for better travel links (like the potential Nine Elms footbridge) and cycle safety on Nine Elms Lane are all high on our priority list
We are here for you. If you have any great ideas to make Nine Elms even better, just get in touch and we would be delighted to discuss. Whilst we can’t fix everything, if we can make a difference we will.

About us
Cllr Matthew Corner
Matt Corner has lived in Battersea for the last seven years. He previously stood for election as a councillor in the area in 2018 and is committed to championing the Nine Elms community.
Matt currently works as a management consultant, and wants to use his experience to support businesses and individuals in Wandsworth. His work has involved advising NHS and local council leaders on how to deliver the best possible services for local people while ensuring value for money.
He was previously a secondary school maths teacher, and is now chair of trustees of an education charity that has been providing free tutoring for hundreds of disadvantaged children across London during the pandemic. Matt is passionate about making sure Wandsworth continues to be one of the best areas for social mobility in the country with jobs and opportunities for young people.
Matt is also a tenant in the private rented sector and believes in the need to develop a thriving and friendly community in Nine Elms, in order to further Wandsworth's reputation as the best place to live in London!
A member of the Friends of Battersea Park, Matt looks forward to spending time in the new Nine Elms Park and is passionate about making our community as beautiful and sustainable as possible.
Cllr Mark Justin
Mark Justin has lived and worked within the Borough of Wandsworth his whole life.
Although an accountant by profession he has owned and run his own business in the hospitality industry for the past 36 years, making him London’s longest serving publican. Mark brings to the table a unique insight into the world of commerce and business and hopes to utilise his skill set and knowledge to assist businesses in the Borough whether they be start ups or established businesses.
He will be able to assist in breaking through the red tape that can so easily strangle the next generation of entrepreneurs so badly needed to keep Wandsworth London’s leading Borough for jobs and business.
Socially, Mark is a keen gardener and is a previous winner of “Wandsworth In Bloom”. He is also an active member of the “49 Club” which keeps alive sporting and academic relationships between past and present students at St Joseph’s College.
You can always find his photographic posts on the Battersea Pictures Facebook site. Born a child of the 60’s Mark has an extensive collection of Beatles Memorabilia which threatens to overrun his Battersea home with his long suffering partner. Mark has 2 children, one working within the family business.
