The Specialist Independent Shops Directory lists some of the borough’s independent shops and small businesses. It makes it easier to find quirky, unusual gifts and support your local stores.
As well as an A-Z listing for each shopping area, the guide lists local markets, showcases local businesses and celebrates the spirit of enterprise in Wandsworth.
The shops listed were chosen following input from local people, ward councillors and town centre managers, but the guide’s compilers are keen to hear what shoppers think of the guide, and what other shops they think should be included before it’s updated in the new year.
The guide is part of the council’s Christmas Shop Local campaign, which also includes light ceremonies and festive events, and support for Small Business Saturday.
The council’s business spokesman Cllr Rory O’Broin visited local shops taking part in Small Business Saturday at the weekend. He said: “It was a pleasure to meet local shop owners and find out about the range and quality on offer.
“It’s tempting to buy everything for Christmas online, but shopping locally means you are supporting the local economy, finding things that aren’t available anywhere else, and getting face-to-face expertise, service and local knowledge.
