Tweet Fred Wells Garden Petition Current Your details End Leave this field blank Petition for eco-friendly LED lighting in Fred Wells Gardens The recent improvement works to Fred Wells Gardens have made a real difference to the local community. The playground has been upgraded, paths have been widened, access for people with disabilities has been improved, the tennis court has been resurfaced and thousands of plants have been planted. I really hope you are enjoying having this “project park” on your doorsteps. However, as the nights start getting longer we think the council should install eco-friendly LED lighting in some parts of the Gardens. Lighting would make it safer for nearby residents who may be coming to the park to stretch their legs after a day of working from home, to walk their dogs or simply to get some fresh air. No one likes walking in an unlit park during hours of darkness, something which I am all too aware of as a woman. In the middle of the winter, as the days get shorter and it starts getting dark at 4pm, even a few hours of lighting in the park could make a real difference. In the age we live in, it’s also important that the lights are eco-friendly. LED lights use less energy, have lower running costs and last longer than traditional lights. That is why I am asking for your support with this petition to ask the council to install lighting in the park. As your newly elected councillor, I’m here to represent all of you and to make our ward the best place to live for everybody locally. So please don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help with local issues and campaigns. Whilst I cannot work miracles, if I can help I will.
